How to calculate parent line item price based on child item quantities

We have a product called "Site license + insight" which is a subscription. It has an option for 1 or more trainings which are assets.  The price of the main product is based on how many trainings they select. I am thinking a price rule is the way to do this, but I can't quite figure out how to set it up.

 

If the price rule is on the parent product, how do I drill down to get the quantity on the child in a formula?

If the price rule is on the parent product, I can't seem to reference the parent field as the target of the action?

 

Does anyone know how to do this already?

    Ok. So this was a problem with my understanding of all CPQ's features. Using a lookup table and Configuration Attributes is allowing me to accomplish what I was trying to do in the original question.  Thanks to anyone who considered my question.

Has any one done the price uplift for evergreen contracts for the majority of the customers?

Hi, I have a requirement to do the price uplift to around 19,000 customers in our org, with the Annual Contracts the uplift is easy but for the monthly customers we follow the Evergreen contracts and the renewal concept does not work there. I was wondering if there is a way to do the price uplift by updating the Order Product & Subscription fields.

I am planning to update the following fields on the Order Product object:

  1. Billable Unit Price
  2. Unit Price
  3. Total Price
  4. Total Amount

On the Subscriptions I am updating the following fields:

  1. List Price
  2. Regular Price
  3. Special Price
  4. Customer Price
  5. Net Price

I plan to do this by disabling the triggers, but I have a concern that since the triggers will be disabled we don't know of the self-object or cross-objects that are required due to the changes in the field data will happen or not.

I am looking for any suggestion other than manually amending the evergreen contracts which is not possible due to the number of customers we need to amend. 

Any help/suggestion is appreciated.

CPQ replacing Order with Asset?

Working with an implementation team who are configuring our CPQ. Because our Products are *not* subscription-based, they are designing to use Assets.

 

However, the part that I am confused about is that they are not using Orders. Wouldn't the path be Opportunities => Quotes => Orders => Assets.

 

Can anyone provide some high-level guidance on this? Thanks!

    Q. Is it possible in CPQ to use Orders without Contracts?

    A. Yes, you can create orders without contracts.

     

    Q. Creating a Contract record is *not necessary* and we don't want to

    A. Yes, it is not necessary. But as per CPQ design it is required on the page layout that you can change.

     

    Q. One solution architect has said that CPQ Orders *require* Contracts.

    A. Yes it is required as per CPQ design. But you can change.

     

    Q. Is it possible to create Orders from CPQ Quotes, update the Orders as needed for changes to the Asset configuration, and never build a Contract record?

    A. Yes, from Quote as well as opportunity you can create orders. But I think you need to do some manual interventions Or need to introduce some customisations  going forward.

     

    Q. Would that be considered a reasonable process?

    A. Yes @Wenda McMahan, Not creating contract is normal. Different business uses CPQ differently.

     

    Important: If you want CPQ do not create Contract when you check the Contracted, then you need to configure product correctly. And also you need to set the RENEWAL MODELS as Asset-based.
