Weekly roundups are surprisingly handy when the community has this much happening. Having releases, events and learning opportunities gathered together saves quite a bit of searching. The format also makes smaller announcements easier to notice.

🌟 Resource Spotlight

One of my favorite things about the Salesforce community is seeing people come together to build practical solutions and this is a great example. The Commons’ NPC Community Best Practices group has launched a new Program Management Reporting unmanaged package, created by community members who understand the reporting needs nonprofits face every day.

Salesforce admins can start with 20 reports across 9 custom report types, covering areas such as Benefit Assignments, Benefit Schedules, Benefit Sessions, program enrollment status, recent disbursements, and more. This is HUGE!!! CONGRATS TEAM, learn more HERE & shoutouts to those involved in the comments! Want to learn more about how to get involved in projects like this? Hi,

I am trying to connect to financial edge system using MuleSoft and wanted to check anyone has experience with this integration.

I have come across connectors such as OAuth and SQL Select, but i am not entirely sure about configuration and pipeline.

Anyone has done something similar could please share some guidance?

    Hi Arbaz!

For a Blackbaud Financial Edge integration through MuleSoft, the first thing I’d confirm is which Financial Edge product/version and integration interface you have available. The approach can differ depending on whether you’re using an API, database access, or another Blackbaud integration method.

If an API is available, I’d generally recommend using the supported API with OAuth rather than connecting directly to the underlying database. The Mule flow can then be structured around authentication β†’ retrieve/query Financial Edge data β†’ transform/map it β†’ send it to Salesforce or the target system β†’ handle errors/retries.

If you’re using SQL Select, confirm that Blackbaud explicitly supports direct database access for your environment and that the Mule runtime/network can reach the database securely.

If you share the Financial Edge version and what system you’re trying to send the data to (Salesforce, Data Cloud, etc.), I can suggest a more specific MuleSoft flow and configuration.

Hi Nonprofit Community! Weekly Roundup - Sept 11

Before I dive into the usual Friday updates, wanted to take a moment to acknowledge that it's September 11th - 25 years since September 11th, 2001. Just wanted to pause and remember those we lost, those who lost loved ones, and everyone impacted in any way. Feels weird to simply keep chugging along sometimes, so wanted to pause, acknowledge, and remember <3

Now, let's take a look at what's going on in the Nonprofit Salesforce world this week - as we've got this event called DREAMFORCE NEXT WEEK! Even if you can't attend in SF, there are options for ways to get involved on Salesforce+ virtually, in Dreamforce 2 U events following, etc. Chime in on the comments if there are other hot topics you'd like to share too :)

  • Affordable Housing Commons Workshop on Oct 22 - Kinda like a 1-day sprint/workshop happening in London in October! Learn more and register!
  • NOTE: For Dreamforce activities next week - like the Nonprofit Breakfast and Reception - registration is required. There are hundreds of people on the waitlist, so if you are planning to join, please make sure to register and show up early!!!
