I am successfully displaying a Running Total for the current year in a KPI summary card using the following LOD calculation.
However, when I use the same calculation and only change the year filter to display the previous year, the KPI value does not match the result shown in my line chart.
Is there an issue with my LOD calculation for reporting a previous-year running total, or is there a different approach needed to replicate the Running Total table calculation in a KPI card?
This is the LOD calculation I am using:
{ FIXED DATETRUNC('month', [start_date]):
COUNTD(
IF YEAR([start_date]) = 2025 THEN [user_id] END
)
}
Expected Result:
The KPI card should display the same running total value for the previous year as the corresponding endpoint shown in the line chart (11).

In this example, the monthly unique user count is aggregated in the same way as in the line chart. In addition, since the comparison is between the current year up to the latest available month and the previous year up to the same month, the previous year's value is 7 as of September, rather than 11 as of December.

*In my example, the previous-year value is limited to the same month as the latest month in the current year. If you would like to match the previous year’s endpoint in the line chart (11), you can easily remove the condition AND [max date month] >= MONTH([Start Date]) from the Prev_Count calculation to include the entire previous year.
