The summary of my problem is that I am using Measure Names as a filter on multiple sheets and I would like to apply the same filter across the multiple sheets.
As it is known, this option is unavailable for Measure Values.
I do not see pivoting the data as an option, as my measures have varying formats. I also cannot implement a parameter, as I want to be able to select many measures at once. Also, I would like the solution to be adaptable to data and workbook updates if new measures are added.
I am open to additional suggestions and solutions.
I am using Tableau version 2025.3.

Measure Names is a Tableau-generated field used with Measure Values. Although it can be displayed as a filter, its selected members are tied to the measures used in each worksheet.
Therefore, it does not behave like a normal data-source dimension that can be shared reliably using Apply to Worksheets.
There is no native solution that simultaneously provides:
One multi-select Measure Names control for unrelated worksheets
Different number formats for every measure
Automatic inclusion of future measures
The most maintainable solution is to reshape the data into a long structure containing fields such as [Metric Name] and [Metric Value].
[Metric Name] becomes a real dimension, so its filter can be applied to selected worksheets or all worksheets using the same data source.
If pivoting is not possible, the alternatives are:
Create a small metric scaffold or metadata table and use its metric field as the common selector.
Use parameters or sets to control a predefined list of measures.
Parameters provide more control over formatting and sheet switching, but newly added measures must also be added to the parameter or calculations.
In short, Measure Names cannot be used as a truly global and future-proof multi-select control across worksheets. A real metric dimension is required for that behaviour.
