Is there a way to make 2 copies of measure values and customize them independently and then bring them together?

I know I am asking a question that has been answered in the negative before, and I wanted to find a simpler way to get this done. 

I have been teaching tableau for 4 years now, and I wanted to know if I could use multiple copies of measure values or measure names and change them independently. 

The idea is that we can then get around our dual axis limitation and customize each chart independently, currently the only other way to do more than 2 axis together is a pivot, and that does not allow me to customize each chart. 

 I did find this medium article below and it says we need to prepare a cross join equivalent and use it. 

The other alternative I was thinking was to add some dimensions to colour and others to detail and switch it to colour. 

Is there a simpler alternative please? Maybe someone can tell me how to overcome this limitation?
