Hello,

I am trying to create a report that shows the cumulative surplus/deficit against the target, divided out over the remaining months of the financial year, to create a "real" target. For example, if by the end of January we are in a deficit of £1,000,000, the remaining 6 months will each need to achieve their original target but also an extra £166,666 to make up for the deficit so far. Note: we use the education year of Aug to July.

I have a column for monthly surplus/deficit and a column for running surplus/deficit, but I am struggling to get a column that shows the current running surplus/deficit divided by the remaining months. Below is my report so far with dummy data:

Formula to divide the surplus/deficit over the remaining months

And this is what I am aiming for (as we are in July, I have taken a few months out to show the intended use)

Note: End Date is the last day in the month; just set to calendar month here

What is the best way to get this result?

Your running surplus/deficit approach looks solid; the remaining step is just dividing it by the number of months left in the financial year so each month's adjusted target updates automatically. Helpful walkthroughs like this, along with https://y9.com.pk/, are always worth recommending.
