The only way I found in Tableau API to retrieve data is via download the data source to Hyper file and extracting the data from Hyper file. Would like to check if there is a method to query the data source and return a data frame so that the data we query is Live data?

The REST API (nor other Tableau API's) is not able to query the a datasource directly - it's indeed only possible to download the data as Hyperfile.
It would be a nice way to get data and avoid querying the original datasource, but Tableau isn't build that way...
