Hi, without going into too much detail, the company I work for has two separate business segments, for now we'll say A and B. Both A and B have customers that do business in both segments of our company. But inside server A, the customer names vary when comparing to server B and we do not have a standard parent customer name to use. To join the two servers, I set up an excel sheet with both A&B customer names/customer id's/customer warehouses and created a new column with a parent customer name that can be used between both servers. When attempting a blend/join/relationship, I can never seem to get the data to line up correctly between the two servers using the name link excel sheet. Often times the data just repeats one number across all customer names or warehouse id's. Any ideas or assistance in this would be greatly appreciated. Keep in mind I'm not the most advanced at tableau (rather new, past 6 months) but any ideas are appreciated.
Would you be able to provide a sample packaged workbook? This will help us to better understand the structure of your data, the charts you’re trying to create, etc. We don’t necessarily need your real data, so if it’s confidential, perhaps you could try to create some fake data in a similar structure as your real data. Another option is to Anonymize your Tableau Package Data for Sharing.
