Hi Trailblazers,

I’m currently finishing up the Admin Beginner trail on Trailhead, and I’ll be moving on to the Admin Credentials trail next. After that, I’m planning to start the Salesforce Consultant trail.

I’d love to hear from those with experience—how did you get started with the Consultant path on the Trailhead Playground? Any step-by-step tips or guidance would be really helpful.

Also, are there specific modules, projects, or hands-on practices you’d recommend focusing on to build basic consulting skills?

Thanks in advance!

    Finish Strong on Admin

Complete the Admin Credentials trail (or the official “Prepare for Your Salesforce Administrator Credential” trailmix). This builds a rock-solid foundation. Aim to pass the Salesforce Certified Administrator exam soon after.

    Choose Your Consultant Specialization

Consultants usually start with Sales Cloud Consultant or Service Cloud Consultant (these are the most popular entry points).

Sales Cloud --> if you like sales processes, pipelines, forecasting.

Service Cloud --> if you enjoy cases, omni-channel, knowledge, field service.

Other strong starters: Experience Cloud, Business Analyst, or Revenue Cloud (depending on your interest).

Recommended Trailhead Path on Your Playground

    Start Here (Right After Admin):

Sales Cloud Consultant learning path or the official “Prepare for Your Salesforce Sales Cloud Consultant Credential” trailmix (has Admin as prerequisite).

Service Cloud Consultant equivalent trailmix if you prefer Service.

Key Hands-on Focus Areas (Build These Skills):

Requirements Gathering & Discovery — Modules on stakeholder interviews, user stories, process mapping.

Solution Design — How to design scalable solutions (not just click-click configuration).

Project Delivery — Change management, training, go-live best practices.

Business Analyst skills — Highly recommended (Salesforce Certified Business Analyst credential is excellent for consultants).

    Helpful trails/projects:

    “Build Your Business Skills” trail

“Project Management for Salesforce Projects” trailmix

Superbadges like Business Administration Specialist, Lightning Experience Reports & Dashboards Specialist, and any Cloud-specific ones (Sales/Service).

Projects involving multi-object automation, CPQ basics, or Experience Cloud sites.

Hands-on Practice Tips in Trailhead Playground

Always use a fresh Developer Edition or Trailhead Playground for each major topic.

    Build end-to-end scenarios: e.g., Set up a full Sales process --> Leads --> Opportunities --> Quotes --> Forecasting + Reports/Dashboards.

Practice explaining what you built (record short Loom videos or write documentation) — this is a core consulting skill.

Try breaking things and fixing them — consultants deal with messy orgs.
