Hello Community! My organization has had NPSP for many years, but because of turnover an dother factors, it has become cluttered, with a lot of unused, misused, and redundant fields, picklists etc. We also need to update and create SOPs, create a health and maintenance plan - pretty much do an assessment, clean up and refinement. I have experience on the Data Coordinator side, but learning as a go regarding the backend administration. We do not have a developer on staff nor to we have a consultant on "retainer" (not sure if that's the proper word). We are putting together a DB Improvement Plan (Phase 1) and I was hoping to get some feedback and idea of the cost that might be associated with hiring a consultant to advise and do minimal cleanup and set up work. I have attached a draft of the desired outcomes and activities I predict will be associated. I'm happy to put it in a post instead of an attachment if it helps. Ahh I see what you mean. Well... in all honesty, depending on how bad the mess is, it's usually easier to move to a new org than it is to clean up the mess. It's hard -- REALLY HARD -- to UNconfigure things in Salesforce. It's hard to clean hard typed and structured data in a hard-typed database. In my experience, the fasted road to clean and optimized is to build what you need in a new org, extract the data, clean it/restructure it, and load it in a new org, and then just abandon the mess. It is also usually less disruptive to the users.
If you're going to go through the hassle, it's really worth taking the time to bounce your needs against NPC to be sure you're in the right place. NPSP may be the best choice, but it's really valuable to understand specifically
why, for what reasons, and when it might stop being the best choice.
