No. You cannot modify the Lead Conversion page layout instead you can create a new custom page and call it from a new custom button.

To your second question, You need to have support to enable the "Apex Lead Convert" feature. Once this was enabled, navigate to Lead Settings and check "Require validation for converted leads". This finally gave me the screen that provided options as to/to not create contacts & accounts.

Hi everyone,   As we know, even in 2026 Salesforce still does not allow us to customize the standard Lead Conversion layout. To address this, I came up with a simple approach that uses standard Salesforce features as much as possible. This makes the solution easier to maintain, supports future enhancements, and keeps custom development to a minimum. Below are the steps to achieve this using out-of-the-box (OOB) functionality:     Created a Screen Flow for the Lead Conversion process.  Added a screen in the flow to collect the required fields(Account/Contact/Opp) information  Updated the Lead with the captured information after first screen of this flow.   Used a custom LWC to open the standard Salesforce Lead Conversion page(you can call standard lead conversion layout by using this runtime_sales_lead__convertDesktopConsole).   Used the standard Salesforce conversion process to create the required records.   Kept the solution simple by reusing standard Salesforce functionality and minimizing custom code. In Short: Summary / Approach The idea is to use the standard Salesforce Lead Conversion process instead of building a custom conversion. First, create the required fields on the Lead object and map them to the Account, Contact, or Opportunity using the standard Lead Field Mapping feature. Then create a Screen Flow to collect the required information from the user and update the Lead with those values. After that, use a simple LWC to open the standard Lead Conversion page so the user can complete the conversion. This approach is easy to maintain. In the future, if a new field is needed, just create it on the Lead(if it is not present), map it using Lead Field Mapping, and add it to the first screen of the Flow. No additional Lead Conversion changes or extra development will be required    I understand there are many ways through which you can do that, by using custom metadata+ LWC +Database.convertLead()  or with the help of  flow +apex + Database.convertLead() etc and also depends on the business requirement.    Please let me know if you need any further help or clarification. Also, apologies if the explanation is a bit lengthy or if you feel this isn't the best approach. I'm happy to discuss other options as well.    Thanks,  Vikash
