Add Products to Custom Objects, Include Standard Functionality like Price Books

I would like to be able to add Product line items to a custom object.  The solutions I have found online don't appear to do this without a great deal of additional work (creating workflows for setting pricing, for example)

 

A simple junction object doesn't seem to give you full functionality as what you find with adding Opportunity Products to Opportunities.  Plus I'm concerned about "unknown unknowns" consequences of using a custom junction object.

 

I'm confused by the following article which says the functionality has already been delivered, when it doesn't seem that way to me:

    i want wo kindly ask if there is now a solution for this issue?

     

    I need the same functionality: Price books and products on a custom object.
