Have you tried to do this using Data Loader? I would export the field data plus the account ID and then post/Insert it to the Notes object. You could make the title of each note the same, something like "Migration of XXX field on 3/4/13" and then post the actual data into the body field. The account ID can be used to related it back to the respective account.
