creating new fields within the contacts page

I am trying to create a new field within the contacts page. I'd like to add a "company name" field and would like to make the "Accounts" field NOT required.

 

Is this possible?

    Natively Account name field on Contact object is not required unless your system administrator made it mandatory on Contact pagelayout.Just Edit the Contact pagelayout & Click on Wrench icon beside to Acccount field & uncheck the "Required" checkbox.

     

    Note:- Contacts without Account are like orphan.
