Filter a Report by Parent Account owner?

Is there a way to filter a report so that I can see all Parent accounts that are owned by one user, with their child accounts and opportunities under them?

 

When I try to filter "Parent Account Name Equals NULL" and then filter by the owner, it takes away any child account not owned by that user? Any suggestions?

    Hi Miika,

     

    It can be a bit hairy depending upon how many layers of heirarchy each Account can have.  If you have only 1 or 2 or 3 layers, you could put a formula field on the Account that would pull in the owner of the Parent.  Something like this:

     

    IF(ISBLANK( ParentId ),

     

         (Owner.FirstName & " " & Owner.LastName),

     

        IF(ISBLANK(Parent.ParentId),

     

         (Parent.Parent.Owner.FirstName & " " & Parent.Parent.Owner.FirstName),

     

             IF(ISBLANK(Parent.Parent.ParentId),

     

              (Parent.Parent.Parent.Owner.FirstName & " " & Parent.Parent.Parent.Owner.FirstName),

     

         etc.,

     

    Parent.Owner.FirstName & " " & Parent.Owner.LastName)

     

             

     

    As you can see, this could get a bit out of hand after 3 or 4 iterations.  You may also check out this post to see if it might work for you:
