Can I take Lead Source field values and duplicate into another custom field?

Currently have 1,200 leads with Lead Source values as follows:

 

SalesRep #1

 

Investor #1

 

Investor #2

 

Specific Marketing Campaign #1 

 

Want to create buckets for Lead Source picklist as follows and a subcategories with my current values (specific lead source detail):

 

Sales Generated

 

Marketing Generated

 

Investor/Internal Referral

 

Is there a way I can duplicate all the current Lead Source values into another record (Lead Source Detail, which has a field dependancy on Lead Source) so that I can re-map Lead Source without losing any of my current data?
