I'd like to know if it's possible to automatically relate completed tasks to a particular opportunity record that's related to the contact the activity is logged to?

Right now our sales users are great at logging activities against contacts, usually via the email-to-salesforce tool. We would like to start capturing activity against opportunities but fear compliance will be low as it will add a manual piece to the equation. ie. they'd have to go in, find the activity, relate it to the opportunity.

Is there a way we can automatically assign the activity to not only the proper contact, but the opportunity related to the contact as well?

Thanks!

You could do this, either via flow or a trigger, using standard things like PB and Workflow will not work in this case. Within flow you'll have to add all of the associated opportunities into a collection and then find the one which has this top priority checkbox = true and then do the update to relate the task.

You need to be careful though that there is only one of these opps that're top priority, otherwise it'll break. It may be easier to get people to create tasks from the Opp, that way it's eaiser to relate to the Contact.
