How to delete NPSP Data Import records before the final Import?

Ran NPSP Data Import and found some blank data was imported. The next day, deleted the records and checked from "All" that the records were deleted. Ran NPSP Data Import ensure the correct number of records were import. When trying to take the next step of Data Import, no records were found.

Ran NPSP Data Import records and all the records were found but not available for Importing.

Can all the 2 days of records be completely deleted and start a new import?

This was the solution that worked for me.  I had two thousand records needed to delete after I discovered a mistake in the data I was going to import.  I created a report on the NPSP Date Import object to include the records I wanted to delete.  Make sure you include the Salesforce Record ID, the Import ID will not work.  With Salesforce Record ID  in hand I used Dataloader to delete the import records,

From what I understand thus far about content bodies, they're essentially the body of a file that is uploaded to SF. Documents are files that have been linked to a record, and attachments are files that have not been linked. Do I have that right?

I am trying to figure this all out in terms of our storage usage. If content bodies are the file itself, why don't the counts match?  Do attachments have content bodies? Are documents just the metadata for the content bodies?

Storage Usage: Overlap?

    @Mahogany Lore, MLIS

The behind the scenes of how Salesforce stores files can definitely get confusing. One way to avoid all this hassle is to stop storing files in Salesforce.

The next issue to overcome is... well these files are related to records and data in Salesforce, I need my users to see which documents are attached to which records!

Part of the reason why we built

    sFiles

You'll be able to save on your Salesforce storage costs (which it looks like you're getting close to capacity with content bodies) and you'll be able to leverage SharePoint inside of Salesforce... which most businesses already have.

Are there any budget options for backing up Salesforce directly to Google Drive, bypassing the double transfer of the files that happens when we first download them locally then upload them? I am in particular looking for a solution that does not require installing Google or other products locally to the admin's workstation.

Hi Mahogany - there's no native Salesforce-to-Google-Drive backup, and the built-in Data Export Service still hands you a ZIP you have to download, which is exactly the double-hop you're trying to skip. For a budget, cloud-to-cloud, nothing-installed-locally approach, a few real options:

    1) Google Apps Script (most budget-friendly, fully cloud-side). Apps Script runs in Google's cloud, so nothing installs on the admin's machine. You write a small script that queries Salesforce via the REST/Bulk API (using a Connected App for OAuth) on a scheduled trigger and writes the CSVs straight into a Drive folder. It's free within Apps Script's quotas. Trade-off: it needs a bit of scripting comfort to set up.

    2) Make (formerly Integromat) or Zapier - low-code, no local install. Build a scheduled scenario with the Salesforce and Google Drive connectors that pulls records and drops files into Drive. The free/cheap tiers handle modest volumes fine; just watch the per-run operation limits if you have a large org.

    3) A managed backup service (CloudAlly, Spanning, etc.) if you'd rather not build anything. These run cloud-to-cloud with no local install and are relatively affordable, but note they usually store the backup in their own cloud (with export/restore) rather than writing directly into your Google Drive. Great if a safe offsite copy is the real goal; less so if it specifically has to land in Drive.

Two things to plan for whichever you pick: use the Bulk API if your data volume is large (to stay within API limits), and decide whether you also need Files/attachments (ContentVersion), not just record data - those often get missed in a CSV-only backup.

For a tight budget with someone who can script a little, option 1 is usually the sweet spot. Hope that helps!

Hi Trailblazers,

I am facing an inconsistency between what the Lightning App Builder shows in its mobile preview (Phone Form Factor) and what is actually rendered inside the official Salesforce Mobile App on a real iOS/Android device. I would appreciate some architectural insights to clarify this behavior.

The Scenario:

  1. I am customizing an Account Record Page using the Lightning App Builder.
  2. Inside a Tab component, I configured two custom tabs: Activity (placed first) and Chatter (placed second).
  3. When switching the Lightning App Builder preview to "Phone", the desktop Activities (Activity Timeline) component displays the classic "Unsupported form factor: Activities supports only the desktop form factor" warning.
  4. To test mobile visibility, I left that desktop component there but controlled its visibility via a component filter: Device > Form Factor Equal Phone.

The Inconsistency / Questions:

  • Question 1: Preview vs. Real Device Behavior

In the Lightning App Builder (Phone view), the

Activity tab is strictly displayed above the Chatter tab, respecting the structural order of the Tabs component metadata. However, on the real Salesforce Mobile App device, I only see the Chatter tab and not the Activity tab.
  • Question 2: Fallback Mechanism & Smart Rendering

    Since the desktop

Activities Timeline component explicitly throws an "Unsupported form factor" error for mobile, what is the exact mechanism the Salesforce Mobile App uses on a real device? Does the native app container automatically suppress/ignore unsupported desktop components even if they are forced via Device = Phone filters, or does it trigger an internal fallback to the native mobile global activity card (Recent Activity)?

I want to understand if this layout discrepancy is a known limitation of the App Builder preview simulator or if there is a specific mobile rendering logic that changes the component hierarchy on real devices and hence I can't also see the tab Activity on Salesforce app in the mobile phone.

Thanks in advance for your help!

New Trailhead Badge: Data Enrichment Fundamentals

How do you achieve

  • a true B2B 360 understanding, when accounts may be at different locations (e.g. Salesforce HQ in San Francisco, USA vs. Dublin, Ireland) or have subsidiaries (Tableau, Slack, Informatica...)?
  • know when a consumer has moved to another address, yet still know they are the same person?
  • broader understanding of your customer in joint campaigns with your GTM partners?

The answer: through targetted data enrichment.

This is a great badge! I often see clients who jump into data enrichment without thinking it through. The importance of following these steps is crucial:

    • Confirm the problem using stakeholder feedback and data profiling.
    • Evaluate enrichment providers based on business and technical requirements.
    • Compare profiling results from before and after enrichment to determine the enrichment solution’s value.
    • Determine how often data enrichment should occur.
    • Make enriched data accessible across systems and processes.

Curious how others are tackling this. Leads and contacts pile up over time — people who never converted, went cold, or changed jobs years ago. Do you have automated rules set up to remove them or is it still a manual cleanup project every few months?

I built a managed package on the AppExchange that lets admins define rules once — inactive for 12 months, never converted after 90 days, etc — and it removes records automatically with a full audit trail. Trying to validate that I solved the right problem before building more features.

Would love to hear how your org handles it today.

Hello @jake finegold yes indeed. You can make this delay value customizable to make your package compliant with different regulations / requirements. You can choose to anonymize them also to comply with regulations. Eric
