Curious how others are tackling this. Leads and contacts pile up over time — people who never converted, went cold, or changed jobs years ago. Do you have automated rules set up to remove them or is it still a manual cleanup project every few months?

I built a managed package on the AppExchange that lets admins define rules once — inactive for 12 months, never converted after 90 days, etc — and it removes records automatically with a full audit trail. Trying to validate that I solved the right problem before building more features.

Would love to hear how your org handles it today.

Hello @jake finegold yes indeed. You can make this delay value customizable to make your package compliant with different regulations / requirements. You can choose to anonymize them also to comply with regulations. Eric

Hello,

I keep getting this error: "The matching field you chose "Data Import ID" is not mapped and is required for an Update and Insert operation."

I did not choose Data Import ID though. Instead, I chose name under the "match by" label.

I am trying to "add new and update existing records".

Could someone please assist? Why does it not let me select email under that label? I remember it used to give that option but now it is not.

I am looking for a company where I can get some additional information on our donors.

We currently use a company for some information but we would like to get some philanthropic data (are they charity givers?) and universities attended?

Who is good for the above?

Also wondering who people use for Address/Email/Cell appends and general demographics (birth, death, married, income, occupation, children etc.. Has anyone used Melissa Data's - personator or Clean Suite?

Call for Presentations: Dreamin in Data - Chicago - May 19-20

Happy New Year, Datablazers! 🎉 I want to start by wishing a healthy, fulfilling, and impactful year ahead.

If you attended any Data Matters or Datablazers sessions in 2025, you know our core belief: practitioners learning from practitioners

—sharing what worked, what didn’t, and the lessons earned the hard way.  This is also how we do well, while doing good.

This will not change in 2026. What

will evolve

is how we scale it. We’ll be packaging much of what we learned and created in 2025 into more globally accessible, self-service learning—while still showing up together at key global events.

With that in mind, take a moment to reflect on your recent

data management or Data 360 experiences:

  • What worked well?
  • What didn’t?
  • What assumptions were challenged?

If something stands out, ask yourself: would this help another practitioner?

If the answer is yes, I encourage you to submit a session, panel idea, or facilitated discussion for Dreamin’ in Data – Chicago—the first and only community-led conference dedicated entirely to data.

Given “Every Data Cloud journey starts without Data Cloud.” and with the broader Data 360 portfolio (Data 360, MuleSoft, Tableau, Informatica)—and data touching every role and enterprise initiative including AI, this is where our collective experience matters most.

Thank you for being part of a community that learns by doing and grows by sharing.

Here’s to 2026—better together. 💙

Hi all,

I know I created a thread related to the topic where one of the responses was the use of Data Cloud.

I could not find out if you as user can integrate every kind of data with Data Cloud. I have read some blogs and books talking about Data Cloud, but it seems to be you can only integrate Contacts or Accounts to create a profile in the Data Cloud system. Am I wrong? Can Data Cloud integrate e.g. financial data or other data which is not related to contacts or account into Salesforce?.

What about Datorama? is that also another tool that can be used not only for the integration but for harmonization of data?.

Guys, I know this is not a very active community, but I would appreciate if experts could share their knowledge to this community.

    Hello @Lena Wong,

Data Cloud can integrate various types of data, not just Contacts or Accounts. It allows you to harmonize financial data, marketing data, and more, making it versatile for broader use cases. You can connect different data sources to create a unified view of your data.

Datorama, on the other hand, is focused on marketing data integration and analytics. It helps in harmonizing data from multiple marketing platforms, providing insights and visualizations. Both tools can be valuable for data integration and harmonization, depending on your specific needs. Data Cloud is broader, while Datorama is specialized for marketing data.

We're looking into options setting up an automated system for getting donor data from Global Giving to Salesforce. The majority of donors on Global Giving are recurring donations. Keen to hear how people have approached this? Many thanks

In Apex, how do I declare a CSV file, access it, pass its data to a method that inserts the contents in the database, and then close it?

Thanks!

I ran into something similar a while back when working with large CSV files and Salesforce. Sometimes native import tools just aren’t flexible enough, especially if you need scheduled or automated uploads. You can check out Skyvia and some information about it on this page. They’ve got a few options for importing and exporting data between Salesforce and CSV files, and you don’t have to deal with any complex setup.

Since I am still a beginner with Experience Cloud, I am first trying to gather information in reports or wherever possible about which users have logged in to the Experience Cloud or the Experience Cloud site, or who have registered on the site. Is it possible to obtain this information through a report, or are there other ways to get it in Salesforce?

    Hi @Lena Wong

Experience Cloud users (i.e. not guests) are users like any other in your org as highlighted above so you can always report on them using the Users or Users Login History objects.

I would recommend installing the SF package that installs a plethora of "Network ..." related reports and report types for you to use though, so you can leverage the "Network Login History", there are 2 flavours for with/without chatter communities:

    -

    https://appexchange.salesforce.com/appxListingDetail?listingId=a0N3000000B5XHsEAN

    -

    https://appexchange.salesforce.com/appxListingDetail?listingId=a0N3000000B5XI7EAN

It will also populate your site's Workspace Dashboards with a lot of good stuff you can use.

For registration you might want to select on the User object with "IsPortalEnabled = true" via SOQL or "Portal User Equals True" via a report, and select on and/or output the Created date.
