Enhancing Community Engagement Skills for Salesforce Professionals

As Salesforce professionals, many of us work on projects that impact communities, nonprofits, and social initiatives. While mastering Salesforce tools is essential, understanding the principles of community development and social work can significantly improve engagement strategies and project outcomes.

Developing skills in stakeholder engagement, community planning, and social impact can help you design solutions that truly meet the needs of the people you serve. Whether you are implementing Salesforce for nonprofit organizations, educational programs, or public sector projects, having a solid foundation in community development adds immense value.

For professionals looking to expand their knowledge in this area, the ICTQual AB Level 6 International Diploma in Social Work & Community Development offers comprehensive training. This program covers:

  • Social work principles applied to community projects
  • Effective community engagement and planning strategies
  • Professional skills to manage social impact initiatives
  • Techniques for collaborating with diverse stakeholders
  • Understanding societal challenges and designing impactful solutions

 Discussion Prompt:

How do you ensure your Salesforce projects meet both technical requirements and community needs? What best practices have worked for you?

I am trying to login from my partner user profile. when I click on forgot password, a reset password link will be sent to my email id. When you click on it, it should take you to the reset password page. Instead, it takes you to the Forgot Password page again. This is the issue. Kindly resolve.

We rolled out Salesforce less than a year ago with extensive customizations because the Non-profit Cloud (Programs, Case management) did not seem to meet our needs. We are revisiting that decision now due to the announced expansion of the Non-profit Cloud and some major changes within our organization.

If you have (or can imagine) hundreds of community partners, do you (or would you) use the Case Management module to track them? They are not cases and we do not manage them; they are more like independent consultants - but if my problems are only with the name, I'd be happy to hear it.

We do not provide direct services. Our local partners do that. #Community Engagement

Clarissa - it is a big question.

Feel free to message me on here or on LinkedIn.

Happy to give you an hour of my time to discuss the usecase and see if I can aim you in the right direction.

There should be ways to track these things, but it likely will require very strong up-front strategic design on your part. This will likely not be a fully out-of-the-box use case.

Hi All, quick question - do you think there is a place for gamification in a B2B business? And if you do, do you have any examples you'd be happy to share? Thanks in advance!

Hi Everyone!

We just launched our community for clients, partners and internal experts and are very excited. Now the engagement part comes in! We have our first campaign running to clients that opted-in for an invitation when the community was live. Would appreciate hearing from others what worked, didn't work in terms of getting the clients to do the initial login, post and profile set up. Contests? Phone Calls? Starbucks Cards? Consistent communications [that's a given]. Any lessons learned or examples are greatly appreciated.

Congratulations on the launch of your community, Traci!

    Great points, Joe. I'd add:

    - Leaderboards contests (created most posts, gained most followers, group gained most members, etc.) you may want to center the contest around behaviors you want to recognize and reward (most badges received/given)

    - Campaigns centered around initial wins and use cases

    - Live chat in a dedicated group in your community to welcome members and talk about initial best practices type questions (be prescriptive about the 2-3 topics you want to touch on)

There are some great external community resources as well; The Community Roundtable, CMX Hub, etc. come to mind.
