#Role Hierarchy0 debatiendo

Hi guys, hope you're all well.

As Admin I have made this dynamic Activities report with a filter of 'My Team's Activities' which is not showing the correct roll-up of data as per the Role Hierarchy.

For example, one of the managers in our company has 1 direct report. When opening this report, the manager is seeing not only their direct report, but also users from outside her team.

I've reviewed the Role Hierarchy and it's setup correctly. The other Opportunities based report which use the My Team pre-set filter show up correctly, however for the Activities one, it's showing a mix of users.

Any ideas?

Activities Report with My Team filter is showing users not as per the Role Hierarchy

I also have this issue and it looks like that any users with the "View all data" permission will see all user's activities in a Tasks and Events report when the filter is set to "My Team's Activities."

    Super cool!

Here are some other thread where this has come up:

We were just given an upgrade to Customer Community Plus licenses which require that new users be provisioned with a role attached to it. Because default, SF is creating a new role for each new users and placing them under our Sales Manager in our Role Hierarchy. I have two questions:

  1. Does anyone know why it defaulted in putting users there in the role hierarchy?
  2. And what would be best practice for them as far as being in a role hierarchy? Should they be in their own branch? Under revenue?

It's odd because when I click on the role on the user record, it will detail where it falls in the role hierarchy. But then when I go to Setup>Users>Roles and look at our org set up, I do not see the community plus role listed.

Hi EA team!

Does anyone has worked implementing a security predicate based on territory management?

I would like to know if the way to augment security predicate nodes is the same for role hierarchy for example.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Roman Michalik I am implementing the same Territory management in CRM Analytics for our org. I am unable to understand the logic for Compute Expression "Add Level". You created Level, F1, F2 etc from TerritoryNamePath. How can I verify my Territory levels. In the territory Model I have territory hierarchy as below

    Territory Model(Active)

         +WW

               +A

                    AX

                    AY

               +B

                    BX

                    BY

               +C

               +D

               +E

               +F

               +G

Each territory with + has child territories as shown. How can I implement F1,F2... for above territory Model?

    Thanks in advance!

Hello Everybody today studying for my salesforce admin exam I was testing the access options in the role Hierarchy setup page, and after some attempts I realized that they don't seem to be working. Is it something that I'm doing wrong? or actually this options aren't working anymore and you can only

@Edinson Moreno Make sure the profile in question does not have View All Data/Modify All granted or through any permission set for the user in question. As per the above screenshots, the user should be able to see the cases he/she owns and nothing else.

I am unable to edit sharing rules. Please see screenshot. The fields are in grey. Why is that happening?

Also, if I change the label name of a hierarchy role (not the API) and this name appears as part of a role in a sharing rule based off of roles, do I need to update anything in the sharing rule or will the sharing rule  update automatically with the new name?

Hi All, Some of my friends are looking to join the Salesforce ecosystem but with different profiles, namely Marketing Manager/Consultant or Sales Manager they do have experience in the respective field but don't know how to start with salesforce technology. Are there such career roles available? If Yes then how can they join the Salesforce ecosystem? Please Guide. #Sales And Marketing #Salesforce Jobs #Role Hierarchy #Sales Manager #Career Advice #Career In Salesforce #Career In Salesforce

    Hi Rajat,

It varies by the company. If not a Salesforce cert, they will most likely want your friends to know their way around the products that the company has signed up for (e.g., Salesforce, Pardot, Marketing Cloud etc.).

Most likely, it will be desirable for them to have 1 or more relevant certificate under their belt.

Every time I run this specific report, it is filtered by a specific role. When I choose "Clear selection" and "save & run" it, the filter is out (good). But once I close the report and open it again, the filter is back.

I do not have this issue with other reports. Any idea why that is?

Thanks!!

Hi Both! Thank you very much for your help.

I found a solution: Actually this situation only came up with one specific report type and only me (I am admin). I simply now deleted by role in my user profile.

    Works now! False alarm ;)

Hi, my sharing rules seem to be giving my users more access than they should. When I give read access to opportunities, they actually are able to have edit access to the records of the other users even though they are lower in the role hierarchy.

Org wide defaults for opportunities are set to private.

Any help will be much appreciated!

Hi Josh, have you checked the sharing in the profile? If the profile has the edit permission you cannot take it away with a sharing rule but only grant additional access, e.g. delete. Best, Jan

Hi there,

Often times when I make new users, I forget that I have to assign them certain folder permissions too, especially for reports. When new users don't have these permissions, they go to the reports the dashboards use and are locked out because they don't have folder permissions.

I have a role that was grandfathered into our SF environment that I assign everyone. Would it be easier to assign everyone this new role and give View access to the Report folder? More importantly, would giving this Role only View access take precedence over individual User permissions like Edit and Manage?

Folder based permissions does preside unless you give permission at profile like "Manage Reports in Public Folders". Otherwise.. defining the Role in the Report Folder sharing and assigning users to those Roles will help and indirectly automate report/dashboard visibility

Hi friends,

we are having one trigger on the Invoice object which I want to edit. In the invoice we are having 3 fields:

  1. Account owner ( it can be CMS roles user that reporting to SM role, or it can be SM user which reports to SD role)
  2. SM
  3. SD

We have one trigger but when testing and the Account owner is a CSM role user but the SM and/or SD is empty it's not populating the exact user name.

So what we want is to display the user name of the SM and SD depending on who is the Account Owner is.

If the owner is CMS 1.1 or CMS 1.2 then the SM field should be SM1.1 or SM1.2, if the SM role doesn't have users assigned then we want to display only the label of that role(SM_1).

In the same way, if the owner is SM1.1 or SM 1.2 then the SM field should display the own name of the user who is the owner and the SD should be SD1 because they are reporting to SD1.

If SD1 doesn't have users assigned then we want to display the label of that Role (SD_1). How can I achieve this? Attached is the screenshot of our Roles, hope it's clear.

Thanks

Hi Kermit, thanks for your info. I have already posted my question in the developer forum but no reply yet.

By any chance, I can update my 2 fields by process builder?

    Thanks
