From what I understand from the documentation, the "device_type" is not what type of device is viewing the dashboard, it's for what type of dashboard was being presented to the client. The explanation for "device_type" is "DSD device type detected" - "DSD" stands for "device-specific dashboard" - this is the type of dashboard layout created in Tableau Desktop. I do not believe this field will track what device was viewing the page, it will only show what dashboard was offered to the user. you can read more about Device Specific Dashboards here: Design dashboards that shine on any device in Tableau 10 | Tableau Software

orphan or duplicate extracts can occur but currently it is a just a theory in your case. 

What Tableau Server do you have ? If >= 2025.1, you have recycle bin feature so you should try to empty it first. 

- About orphans / duplicates, basically any hyper extract file present in dataengine > extract folder but not present in postgres repository table "

extracts " (identified by its "descriptor" value/folder, can be deleted. 

- Similary any extract record reference present in postgres repository table "

extracts " with datasource_id null AND workbook_id null

, can be deleted from the dataengine > extract folder. But backgrounder is supposed to delete those automatically.

It is a it technical topic so take your time to audit your instance before doing any change and have a backup strategy in place.

Hi, when you initially buy a creator license, you should be asked if you are going to use Tableau Server or Tableau Cloud.  A creator license can only be used for Tableau Server OR Tableau Cloud. It can't be used to activate at the same time Tableau Server and Tableau Cloud. 

If you want to activate Tableau Server, you would need to buy another creator license, and therefore make sure to ask the Tableau Account Manager/Tableau-Salesforce partner it is a new install, and you need it for Tableau Server. 

Once you have enabled Tableau Cloud or you have installed Tableau Server, you can activate Tableau Desktop and Tableau Prep Builder using LBLM 

On the other hand, if you are looking for the tenant portal in Tableau Cloud (Tableau Cloud Manager), your user needs to be configured as a Cloud Administrator: 

If you are a Cloud administrator, once you have signed in into your Tableau Cloud site, you will find a site selector in the upper left corner, just below the tableau, and the option to sign into the Cloud Manager will be enabled.

Hi Demet,  

This looks more like a logical data model issue after replacing the SQL than a Tableau Server issue. 

Since it started after the replacement, I’d compare the old and new SQL to make sure all fields used in the relationships/joins are still there with the same names and data types. 

I’d also check the relationships in the Data Source

tab. If everything looks fine, try removing and recreating the affected relationship, as Tableau may be holding onto some metadata from the old source.
