Hi all, potentially silly question: I inherited an NPSP org in which Contacts have the Account lookup field on their record, but the Primary Affiliation lookup was hidden from the page layout -- so I've only just discovered this field exists. ( #AccidentalAdmin)

We sometimes have instances when an individual works with our organisation on a professional level, but they've also given us donations as a private individual, so they need both a normal Account record and a household record.

In those cases, we've put their household in the Account lookup (so the donation records are attributed correctly), and created secondary affiliation records to also connect their Contact with the Account for the organisation they work for.

If we listed their household as their Account and their employer as their Primary Affiliation, would their donations still be attributed correctly to the Contact and their household, rather than NPSP attributing the donation to their employer?

YES!! What you describe is EXACTLY how NPSP is designed to work.

For correct attribution of donations, it’s all about the Account on the Opportunity. If it’s a Household Account, then the Contact who is the Primary Contact on the Opportunity (and their Household) get hard credit. If the Opportunity Account is an Organization, then the Primary Contact on the the Opportunity can get soft credit. The business will get the hard credit.

**Are you interested in gaining a Business Analyst qualification for FREE?**

Supermums have launched an Apprenticeship Programme to enable Salesforce professionals to gain a Level 4 Business Analysis qualification, if they live and work in England, UK. This apprenticeship is in partnership with Learning Curve Group and supported by Salesforce, who are also providing apprenticeship levy to support those who work in the charity and non profit sector and employers who don’t have their own levy to use to fund their study.

I’ve attached a 3 page slide deck that I would love for you view and share with your networks and wider community. If you are interested in finding out more, visit https://supermums.org/training/salesforce-apprenticeship-programme/ or contact my colleague Abigail@supermums.org

Thank you @Michael Gerholdt  for letting me share this opportunity in the group :)

Very excited about the enhancements coming to Flow!  Thank you for giving this Accidental Admin (who has never coded a day in his life) super powers!  I have created 2 customer facing flows for our community (one which is COVID specific) and our stakeholders are now Flownatics!

@Aprille Metcalf @Deanne Walters @Judy Otto @Brennan Butler @Cheryl Curry @Justin Gilmore @Alexandra Klinger and Amanda Styles (who is still working on transferring her Hub Profile) I wanted to start a post to introduce you all! Thanks for signing up to work on this project for the Virtual Sprint in a couple weeks. There are actual 15 people that have signed up to work on the team so far, but I haven't tagged the Salesforce staff that are interested, and some folks don't have Hub profiles yet.

Can I suggest that you all take a second to introduce yourselves? Also, as one of the larger Project Team groups, you may want to consider thinking about what you'd like to accomplish for this effort during the sprint and read up on the existing project material that was started a few sprints ago by @Samantha Shain and @Vered Meir.

And on a side note, I think this project in particular is well-timed. With the current Covid-19 situation the idea of getting Salesforce job descriptions and a checklist of skill-sets out into our Community (and beyond) could be very useful for folks looking for a new job in a troubled economy. Remote work is likely going to take off like a rocket, and I can see this being a big help. What do you think? Is anyone willing to lead this project for the Virtual Sprint?

@Jenne Secrest here's the group! Post an introduction to start. I'd recommend the whole team starting a chat about the project if possible. Otherwise, tasks and goals can be sorted out during the first hour of the Sprint next Tuesday 🙂

I'm a recent acolyte to the wonderful world of Salesforce (#accidentaladmin turned pursuing the cert) so apologies if this is a super basic question - is there a way to make one field on an opportunity page editable even if the record is locked?

I think you'd need to unlock the record and use Validation Rules to tighten everything else down.

In our org only specifically authorized users can edit a locked record, any edits need to be formally requested by the record owner. Otherwise the submitter is instructed to re-call and re-submit the record.

In everyone's vast experience, what's the best way to learn enough Salesforce to go for the first certificate?  Does it help to pay?  I saw something on Udemy and bought it on sale.  I know other companies have courses for the Admin 201 prep.  Has anyone used K2 Partnering Solutions, which offers official material for a discount.  Can you get a job without the Cert?
