#Tableau Release Readiness Bulletins0 discussing

I have created a table using the new and tabby extensions. I am seeing that there is no option to create an extract of the data coming from table extension. Is there any way to create an extract of the same. if not possible, then I would request to have this feature in new version of tableau where we can create extract of the tables generated using table extension.

How to create an extract if your data source is a table extension?

    @Rahul Dhanola

Hi, currently it is not possible. However you may use Hyper API or Pantab to run your python script and create an extract:

    https://pantab.readthedocs.io/en/latest/

    https://tableau.github.io/hyper-db/docs/

You may also create an idea for this:

If this post resolves the question, would you be so kind to "Select as Best"?. This will help other users find the same answer/resolution and help community keep track of answered questions. Thank you.

Have features like Einstein Discovery from Tableau been brought to Tableau Server?

I understand that it will be applied starting from version 2023.2. Is this correct?

When will Tableau Server version 2023.2 be released?

Hello,

may I ask where can find list of fixed issues/bug in a specific version of Tableau Server? Before migration to issues.salesforce.com release page covers it in a clear way. For example here, for version 2023.1.2.

In the new issue tracker is quite difficult to find all fixes per version (no filter option). So you have to manually open each issue and check for text "Deployed In".

Hope I did not miss something. Thank you.

We've recently become aware of exploits of the ZK Java Framework, as noted in CVE-2022-36537 - CVE - CVE-2022-36537 (mitre.org). I've not been able to find anything on Tableau's site about this and it is unclear if Tableau uses the ZK Java Framework in any of it's products.

I would like to know if this has any impact on any of the Tableau products?

Thanks.

    Hi there Warren,

I've held off on answering this query as I was awaiting the official response from the Security Team. Tableau does not use the ZK Java Framework, therefore it is not affected.

Please see the official response from the team below:

"Due to the nature of our services, Salesforce may not comment or provide information to individual inquiries on potential vulnerabilities to the services. If a potential vulnerability has substantial impact on the services and requires a public statement, then this will be published in the security advisory section of the trust website: https://security.salesforce.com/security-advisoriesThe Salesforce incident response team monitors a wide range of public and private threat intelligence feeds and communities. This threat intelligence is processed in near-real time and leveraged in the following ways to detect and respond to threats:

    • Detection: Relevant IOCs (indicators of compromise) are automatically distributed as new detection signatures to our security monitoring infrastructure.
    • Hunting: Relevant IOCs are used to sweep our environment (and historical log data) for any suspicious artefacts or activity.
    • Situational Awareness: Relevant threat intelligence is summarized and communicated to all members of the CSIRT.

When reported by vendors, vulnerabilities are entered into the salesforce central ticketing system and are assigned an internal vulnerability ranking according on the OWASP risk rating framework based on likelihood and impact (CVE). These issues are tracked through to resolution in accordance with company policy and industry best practice recommendations. The effectiveness of this process and its implementation has been assessed by a third party auditor as part of our SOC 2 audit performed every 6 months. Please refer “SOC 2 Report - Corporate Services” available from the Salesforce Security & Compliance Documentation Portal: https://compliance.salesforce.com/en/soc-2"

Howdy - so, we are still using TS 10.4 and need to apply some patches.  I see there are 3 .exe files, primary; worker; tabcmd, which is fine.  Is patching as simple as downloading the exe to the correct server (primary or worker) and then running it?  I'm guess we'll need to 'stop' the server, apply a patch and then restart the server after each patch?  Right now, there are about 15-16 patches we would like to apply - if we have to stop/restart after each one, yeah - that might take awhile.  Suggestions?

Thanks,

John

With 10.4, you can apply onto the primary and then the patches should trickle down to the workers automatically.  And yes, you need to stop the cluster first.  One thing to note is that if you look at the workers control panel, it will still show the old version installed, but it will be updated.

Prep 2018.2.3    (since Sept '18)

Created a flow in Dec 2018, use it weekly.   Used 12/17, saved, no issues.  Used it 12/24, saved,  no issues.

Went to open flow 12/31 and received the following error message:

"This file was created in a pre-release version of Tableau Prep and has a file format that is no longer valid in the released versions of Tableau Prep"

Prep will not open the file - just tested another file i used (and saved) 12/24 and am receiving same error.

Have any of you experienced this issue?

Any word from Tableau on what the issue/cause is?

I have opened a ticket  Case# 04479996  in hopes of finding a remedy and/or preventative steps for future.

Support asked me to clear logs, duplicate, and send them fresh logs, which i have.

(Update:  worked with support, issue was corrupted flow during a save (see network drive comments below) - issue was resolved by using Microsoft "Recover Previous Versions" capabilities - was not able to resolve via repackaging - has not been a frequent issue)

Quick update- It looks like in some scenarios, specifically when you are using a version of Prep that is valid, and has previously opened this file, and the file is saved on your local computer, You may be able to resolve this issue by Using 7.zip to extract the flow folder, and then re-zip the folder, changing the extension back to .tfl.  It looks like this has fixed a few scenarios. However, It looks like when the file is being kept on a shared drive, this is less likely to work, as the corruption is likely to be caused by a "blip" in the network while saving. Network drives are known for causing similar issues, and it's not something Tableau would be able to fix, as it's all about how the operating system and network handle the file transfer.

If you are saving your flow to a shared/network drive, Please keep a local copy as well so that you have a backup if something like this occurs!   Hopefully that helps someone!

Hmmm ... seems like they did change the one link which had been the same for most of the time.  Looks like this one will work:

Tableau Prep Builder Upgrade Page | Tableau Software

Which it looks like you have to scroll down a bit to hit the "What's New" section.   This has another link to this blog entry:
