I installed NPSP into a new instance but the NPSP Opportunity record types (Donation, In-Kind, Grant, etc) are not installed.

Has anyone else had this issue? If I create the record types myself and use a trial NPSP org (one that does have the record types) for reference to configure them, will this work the same way?

    @Judi Sohn

... on a very related note, after adding NPSP to a new developer Org, health check gives the following warning:

    Trigger Configuration

Trigger Handler PMT_Payment_TDTM on object npe01__OppPayment__c does not match the default NPSP configuration.

If the Trigger Handlers do not match the default NPSP configuration, functionality in NPSP may be disabled or modified. Modifications should only be performed by someone knowledgable with the NPSP Trigger Handlers, and how changing them will affect system behavior.

Do I need to fix this? If so, how do I fix it. I have no knowledge of triggers, but can follow instructions well.

I know there are profiles that can be found in an org with NPSP that are called things like "Fundraising and Development," "Program Staff," "Volunteer," etc., but those don't always come with the NPSP. In my experience, I've seen that those come with a new org acquired via Salesforce.org's free trial, but if an org upgrades from an old NPSP or installs NPSP 3 into a Salesforce.com free trial, those profiles don't seem to come through.

Is this correct? And is there any way to install those pre-made profiles? (I know those aren't a complete solution, but they're better starting points than the standard SFDC profiles.)

Yes, you are absolutely correct. It's in the trial only. And no, we don't have a separate installer for the profiles. Good idea though. #NPSPSprintIdea

What resources are out there for training folks in the very basics of NPSP data entry?  The context here is when letting a new person touch my NPSP database, giving them a very basic primer on concepts like "Save", "Household Account", "don't put Joe and Jane" in Contact.FirstName, "search for a Contact before entering a new one", "if you find two unhouseholded Contacts with the same address, tell someone that maybe they need to be merged" ...sort of a cross between generic NPSP features and generic data entry rules of thumb, not trying to address additional customizations at all.

I'm thinking of a single standard "certification-like" training sequence, not too long, that would allow anyone to know that their new volunteer or staff at least has a fighting chance at getting basic constituent and donation data into NPSP correctly.  As in, you could ask them, "Have you taken the NPSP Data Entry Certification?".

I do know about NPSP documentation, the excellent NPSP training videos...I guess I'm thinking of a "one-stop standard" that might roll them together into a sequence which focuses specifically on data entry rather than db customization.

Does such a thing already exist and I just live in a cave?  Or if not, is it a reasonable idea?

Have you thought about @Trailhead Community Convo modules... they've got a trail on NPSP that, in my opinion, covers the basics. Another option would be to put together a simple series of scavenger hunt exercises that the new user does in a sandbox.

Hey folks, @Trish Perkins's Campaign blog post is still one of the most valuable resources out there: http://cloud4good.com/announcements/the-magic-of-salesforce-campaigns/.

I always pair it with the Salesforce Campaign Implementation Guide (https://resources.docs.salesforce.com/206/latest/en-us/sfdc/pdf/salesforce_campaign_implementation_guide.pdf) when looking at what I might need to build. It makes great suggestions like adding a Goal picklist, and a Hierarchy level picklist.

I learned from @Steve Molis to always create a Top Campaign In Hierarchy formula with the top campaign name.

I learned from @Shasti Walsh a few different tricks for how to structure your campaign hierarchies, and I learned from either her or @Caroline Renard to add a "Planning" Campaign Status, and a "Not Sent" Campaign Member Status.

From @TJ Warfield I learned about these three great apps to make campaigns easier: https://blog.brightsteppartners.com/2016/10/04/three-free-campaign-apps-to-kickstart-your-marketing-lists/

What else do you build on Campaign? What custom fields, formulas, workflows, and processes make your campaign life easier?

Hi all - I am wondering if someone would like to take over on coordinating this group? For a myriad of reasons, this is a project with which I will no longer be able to keep up, and thus, this group could use a new moderator and a new project manager.  Please let me know, and many thanks.
