Tableau User Group board | Maine

Hi all,

I am having problems getting a dual axis map to work. I have attached a workbook and I would like to overlay MAP 2 onto MAP 1. I have followed all of the instructional tutorials that I can find and I can't get the dual axis map to work. PLEASE HELP!

Thank you!

Anne

    Hi Anne,

In the workbook there are two separate Tableau data sources with mapping data - the boundaries data and the grocers data. MAP 1 is using the boundaries data, MAP 2 is using the grocers data. However Tableau (as of v2021.1) has a long-standing requirement that all mapping data come from the *same* Tableau data source, and that's why you can't get a map.

With the relationships feature introduced in v2021.2 we can build a single Tableau data source that would work as desired and remove the need for data blending. Since all of the sources in this workbook are extracts I didn't do that (you'd be better off doing it on the native connections prior to extorting), here's an sketch of what the source would look like:

Also since the workbook is built using v2020.4 you could use the Map Layers feature to build the view.

From everything I looked up, I am doing the calculations correctly, but I am still getting data for several days past the "year to date" date. If someone can help, I would be happy to share my workbook. The last fulfilled ship date in the data set is 8/22/23 and the data was refreshed on 8/28/23. I want the previous fiscal year to date data to not go beyond 8/28/23 (the updated date) or at the very least the last ship date that has fulfilled data (8/22/23). but I am ending up with data with a ship date of 9/1/22.

Thank you!

Looking for a way to get grand totals for each dimension in a worksheet.I have a worksheet that has 2 dimensions (month and another) in the columns and subtotals for the months. The worksheet also gives me a grand total for all months listed. Is there a way to get the worksheet to show me a "grand total" for each of the dimensions as well?

    Anne,

I assume that you have your Grand Totals and sub-totals selected for the view. Now you should be able to click on each dimension in the view and select if you want it to sub-total at that level within the view.

Anne, I assume that you have your Grand Totals and sub-totals selected for the view.

You might have to "play" with where the sub-total appears to get it at the right level you want but this should help.

Hi all Maine Tableau folks. I submitted an idea about adding DB2 to the "Output to Table" feature in Prep Builder. I'd be very appreciative if you'd consider upvoting it!
