Tableau User Group board | Indianapolis (Indiana)

Hello,

One of the issues I've noticed in the past few meetings, is that there is a lack of repeat attendees. I wonder if a portion of this is due to the variety of experience levels, and trying to meet the needs (or provide relevant information) for all.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this and on how we could address it? We seem to have a core group that normally attends, but it would be nice to grow the regulars.

I have a few ideas, but I thought it would be good to solicit from everyone as well.

I often end up not being able to make it because of work, pure and simple.

I certainly think skill levels are going to be a factor, just as they are at the Customer Conference.  I don't know the solution, but agree, it is something that impacts attendance.

Posting resources used during each event after the event, or recording events, might help encourage participation as well.  Some other User Groups are doing this, and they seem to be well attended -- and for those who cannot attend, they have the option to watch later.  I know that is not always ideal, since this can encourage folks NOT to attend, but I just think it raises the bar a bit, in terms of what the UG offers.

Was there an update to this post? Is it dead for the most part?

Just got back from DF2025 and haven't been more stoked to get involved in the local Tableau community. Is there any way I, or we, can work to livin' the place up? I know this platform is being moved to a Trailhead neighborhood soon, but is there anything we can do leading up to that move?

Hello all! I did not know this kind of group existed until reading on LinkedIn about it, so I am very grateful to find other analysts in the Indy area to talk data with. Are there any upcoming meetings or events planned that I could get to meet others at and learn about their journeys to data? Thank you!

Hello,

I am a member of a professional organization called Indiana Evaluation Association (IEA).  We are having a conference in October 2019 in downtown Indianapolis and are thinking way ahead.  Anyway, we’d love to have someone who is great in Tableau come speak and show our group how to do some things in Tableau.  A lot of work that our group does is survey research and looking at two or more different groups (e.g., students, employees, patients) and determining whether they are statistically significantly different on some kind of outcome. Do you think there is someone in this group who does that and would be willing to come speak to our group about that?  If so, could someone connect me with that person?

Thanks so much!

Hello Everyone,

I was excited to see that there is a user group for Indy -- does anyone know if there is currently an organized structure to this group? i.e. meetings/meetups.

I'm currently learning how to use Tableau and would be appreciative of getting some tips from seasoned data viz Tableau creators. Would anyone be interested in having an informal meeting in Indy?

Thanks,

Ingrid
