    Hi Fabiola,

There are a couple of great K12 events happening in conjunction with the Tableau Conference 2026 in San Diego this week. The in-person Education Meetup in San Diego is on Thursday, May 7, at 8:00 am in the Meetup area. There are several education related sessions at the conference including a Hands on Training with the first education specific dataset: Dean's List of Measures (Tuesday, May 5, 8AM and Thursday, May 7, 12PM).

Of course you can also watch great sessions from the Tableau Conference from the comfort of your own screen

    https://www.salesforce.com/plus/experience/tableau_conference_2026

The next K12 Tableau User Group event is scheduled for June 10. The event has not yet been published.

Sorry to tell you something that you may already know.

We had a great K12 Tableau User Group event last week! And we have another coming up next week!

It was a classic

Show and Tell with 5 community members demonstrating their Tableau Dashboards on the theme: A, B, Cs (attendance, behavior, and course progress). There to provide feedback was the reigning Tableau Iron Viz champion, Bo McCready.

Watch the video and review the slides now to see how different systems shape and share their data to help answer questions, identify patterns, and see their data in new ways.

Good morning!

Does anyone know if there is a public entity or school district discount for TC2026 and how much it is?

    Hi Fabiola,

There is a discount for public government / public education entities. The price for the conference is $699.00. Add $71.00 more for Washington sales tax. ; p I hope to see you there!

Hello,

Has anyone worked with PowerSchool attendance in Tableau, and if so, were you able to get an accurate ADA for each school day?

I am running into an issue with not being able to find the total enrollment per day.

Not a PowerSchool user but it looks like PowerSchool allows customers to set a specific code for this calculation depending on how the district / school wants the value calculated. There is a field "This attendance code is considered in ADA calculations." The directions indicate:

Select if this attendance code should be considered in Average Daily Attendance (ADA) calculations.

When enabled, the attendance code is included in ADA calculations. This means the conversion will respect the Presence Status of the assigned code and/or any minutes accrued. For example, Meeting attendance records with a Presence Status of Absent will be treated as such by a Period-to-Day conversion and minutes assigned to a Time attendance record will be counted towards a Time-to-Day conversion.

When not enabled, the attendance code is excluded from ADA calculations. This means the conversion handles the attendance code as if no attendance was taken. For example, Meeting attendance records results as a present because the absence of an attendance record (blank) is the same as a default present. Whereas, Time attendance records result in no minutes granted as if attendance was not taken.

Hi all,

Our March 4, 2026, 11 am (Central Time) our Tableau User Group event will be a

K12 Community member "Show and Tell."

Like the classic show and tell education strategy, this is your chance to demonstrate completed work, discuss progress, and share learnings about your Tableau Dashboards. This time we will focus on the

A, B, Cs (attendance, behavior, and course progress). Volunteer by email before March 1 to david.ogden@rentonschools.us

Share your completed or in development dashboards and let us know what you found or how they have helped. Your story is important as are your design ideas. It doesn't have to be fancy but it does need to be aggregated data or anonymized student data. No personally identifiable data please!

How it will work:

  • Up to 7 volunteers will share their dashboard during the event.
  • Each volunteer will have 5 to 10 minutes to show their dashboard and tell what they have learned about the data or the process or actions taken.
  • Audience members will provide compliments and questions in the chat.

This is your chance! Build your public speaking experience and help your fellow K12 Tableau users see your story.

We encourage you to create an account and share your dashboard via Tableau Public. It is not required but it makes it easier for others to see and explore what you show.

Volunteer by email before March 1 to david.ogden@rentonschools.us

Getting more K12 voices on stage is a huge priority so we can learn from peers who understand the challenges and opportunities for impact. The conference is happening in person in

San Diego from May 5-7

. If you have a great use case or a dashboard that’s changing how your district works, I highly encourage you to submit a proposal!

We've seen in California that many people talk about multiple measures, but what they mean is that teachers should refer to two or more tests of student mastery before reaching a judgment about student skill level. I'm eager to see scatterplot examples of scatterplot visualizations that do this well.

    Hi Steve,

Hopefully there will be a more qualified response for your question from the Student & Teachers group than the generic ChatGPT response you received from @Abhishek Singh .

For example after only a couple of prompts in ChatGPT, I was able to achieve the exact same response, from ChatGPT:

Hi Steve,Hopefully there will be a more qualified response for your question from the Student & Teachers group than the generic ChatGPT response you received from @Abhishek Singh .So, while your follow-up response was generous and well-meaning, it's going to a response (as you indicated in your reply) that has little relevance to your original question. You might want to edit your post and remove your email address and just indicate that your email address is available to anyone that might be interested in your team's approach on the subject.

    Best, Don
