Hi! I hope everyone is having a good week. I wanted to ask what your process is for making changes to your Salesforce Database. Is there a best practice you have established where you work? My ideas: receive change request -> evaluate feasibility before committing to the change -> implement change -> test to be sure the change works and doesn't affect other components -> document change and reason for change -> train others on change if needed.
Do you have other ideas or steps I might not be thinking of?
Oct 23, 2023, 5:52 PM Hi Nikki! I typically use email. If training on anything is needed, I met set up a training video call as the changes are rolled out.
Has anyone used Salesforce Talent Stacker for training? Merely curious.
Oct 18, 2023, 8:27 PM Thanks for your feedback. I appreciate it.
Greetings to all! I haven't been nearly as active in this group the past few weeks as life through me a health scare curveball. And in the midst of navigating health matters, I lost my job (for reasons unknown to me). While there is more that could be said, I will refrain from doing so. Instead, I'm drafting a plan to move forward.
1) Pursue health - I'm waiting for one more round of medical tests before I launch a serious new job search.
2) Upskill - I'm contemplating various ways that I can use this season of life to upskill. This may include additional Salesforce certifications.
3) Freelance Consultant Work - Starting November 1 - I will more intentionally seek short-term project-based consultant work. I largely am self-taught when it comes to Salesforce, but I am a certified Salesforce Administrator. I'm also good with excel and have used excel to do a lot of with data. The Salesforce Excel Connector is fabulous (Xappex.com will help you explore that resource).
4) My LinkedIn Account - Feel free to follow me on my LinkedIn Account www.linkedin.com/in/keknowles197997. I'm seeking to post something related to data, or life/work balance once a day.
5) This Group - I will seek to post once a week to this group. I will post once more today with a Salesforce specific question.
Thanks, and have a good rest of your day!
Happy Wednesday to all! Would you drop a comment telling me where you are based (or work from primarily)? What time zone you are in is helpful, too. I want to plan a Zoom call for October, but I want to work out a good time to allow as many people as possible to join.
Who will I see at Nonprofit Dreamin’? Hope lots of you will be attending! https://www.nonprofitdreamin.org/
Sep 27, 2023, 11:48 AM I don’t think you can, but check the website and maybe ask the organizers? I am just an attendee.
New Topic: Let's talk about reporting and dashboarding! What are your favorite solutions? If using Salesforce dashboards, how do you handle sharing information with others if they don't have a Salesforce License?
Sep 12, 2023, 9:30 PM Thanks @Jennifer Lange and @Laurie Gardner for your feedback! @Kristin Knowles if you want to learn more about Apsona and its reporting capabilities, feel free to register for our upcoming 30 min demos on Apsona for Salesforce and Multistep Reporting
I'm curious as my organization does have an annual financial audit (next week). I'm not fully front and center with responsibilities, but I am responsible for pulling several reports. I also verify the donor intent on random gifts the auditors choose to wish to examine more closely. My organization has 31 employees, so we are on the smaller side. What about you all?
Sep 8, 2023, 2:22 PM I have found Dashboards to be a fantastic way to increase engagement from staff. Two summer staff got super competitive about their backburner data entry tasks once the data went to a graph on our NPSP home page!
Sep 5, 2023, 10:22 PM @Debra Van Zegeren - I hands down agree! I wouldn't get rid of Apsona for anything!! Apsona has been used in some of my workarounds. However, I want to take full advantage of the custom code we had written during our implementation. So, I want the NPSP Data Import Tool to work optimally again. But thanks for writing in your suggestion.
