November 2020 - Platform App Builder

For registered students of the November 2020 TVB403 course

Hello - as I mentioned in the session, my company may be hiring someone to help me since I am a solo admin (and also part of sales and billing operations). Its quite hectic for me. Before moving on, I want to say please do not attempt to reach out to anyone else at Virtuozzo about this. It is not yet a real available position, and in the end I am going to be the one you talk to anyway.

The plan is to POSSIBLY hire someone mid 2021 - who would either be my senior, or my junior. I am by no means a super expert at SFDC (I am advanced certified only), so I do struggle with building complex solutions, integrations, some advanced reporting - so I would totally prefer a senior to me. But really that ultimately wont be my choice. I think it will greatly depend on budget and what the benefits my management sees for us.

Possible routes would be:

1. Senior to me - Someone with extensive SFDC experience (admin, development, integrations). Certified admin and developer. ~5-10 years experience. Business, Sales, and Marketing experience a plus! This person would basically own our SFDC org and be the one to research and come up with solutions, while also helping me gain more skills.

2. Junior to me - At least certified admin (advanced a plus). At least a year or two of admin experience. The idea for this position would be that I would be the "senior", while this person basically takes over my job now - while I move to the above mentioned job description. As of now, my job is SOLO admin - and I also hold many regular processes such as monthly lease billing, licensing/order setups, sales operations, marketing help, and various monthly/weekly data loads.

As I said - this is a very new idea that my management has recently informed me of, so nothing is for sure. But I figured it may be a good opportunity for some of you, as well as myself to finally get some help. Note that I live in seattle area, while the company is based mostly in Moscow, Russia. So I do think this new hire would either be near me, or in Russia. But again, this is a new idea, and thats just a thought I personally have. It would benefit both the company and myself if this new hire was near me so we could have the same time zone and meet up in person regularly (although the position will probably be remote).

If interested send me a private message with your email address and resume (make sure your location is listed somewhere). I will keep track of everyone who has inquired and will reach out to you if, when the time comes, are in consideration.

Thanks!

EDIT: Actually it seems you cannot private message me a resume - at least I am not seeing any options for that. Just go ahead and email me your location and email address, along with a brief description of your SFDC journey.

I tried to watch yesterday's webex but when I clicked on the link, there wasn't any recording. Does anyone have the same problem?

For "Work with Custom Lightning Components" module, the ContactsToday package ID is 04t1a000000REQ2  (It's not provided in the module for the Hand-on Challenge)

Hello! Anybody know if we will hold classes during the US holiday tomorrow? (wednesday, Nov 11 - verterans day)

EDIT: I do see the item in day 3 week 2 - but I do remember some side conversation during our last session about skipping some sessions due to holiday.

Kind of on topic - Just wanted to throw it out there that I use a free app called "Lookup Rollup Helper", which allows rollups on lookup relationships (since standard out-of-the-box rollups are only allowed on master-detail relationships). If you dont use it yet, try it out! It has helped me through a handful of requirements.

I'll kick it off.  My name is Xavier (Zah-V-A) though most give up and just call me X.  Happy to connect with anyone, collaborate and attempt to help.  Hope you're all doing well and thank you Michael for putting this together.

@Megan Gatza - Ask away! Im sure there are some mixed levels of experience between the 18 of us. I am no expert by any means - but I have been a solo admin for a few years now, which has forced me to figure out all kinds of weird things. So I will always try to help where I can. Maybe start a new post with your question about formulas?
