DEAForce

An awesome group of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Salesforce trailblazers who share the same passion for Salesforce! This is where we can collaborate knowledge and resources to empower ourselves in the Salesforce world. Let's network!

Hi all, I got my admin this past August and have a couple of other certs to boot. I'm starting as an apprentice next week with the Blind Institute of Technology.

I am a late deafened adult. I was a professional musician before losing my hearing in both ears to Meniere's disease.

My ASL is pretty weak, so I wouldn't be of any help to Gagan, unfortunately. Just stumbled onto this group and wanted to say hello.

Best, Mark

There are a few who work for Salesforce and they can be found in Slack in the link below.

I am from the United States and I have been working on the Salesforce platform since 2016. I hold multiple certifications and aspire to obtain more, especially those that are related to Salesforce Developers.

    Hi Ambreen,

I work for an organization called the Blind Institute of Technology. It was founded to assist blind and visually impaired professionals in the US, but it has since branched out globally and to the entire community of people with disabilities. For instance, I have no visual impairment, I am deaf. I don't know that there are any positions open at present, but I would suggest applying and getting in touch, so that if something opens up, you'll be on the radar. You can do that here https://blindinstituteoftechnology.org/job-seekers-2023/

You won't need any preliminary coursework, as you already have the admin and two other certs, but for others who might come across this, BIT offers free Salesforce courses to people with disabilities, geared towards gaining certification.

Hello Salesforce passion buddy, I'm still trying to grasp the concepts of Salesforce administration, but I'm finding it confusing. I would really appreciate it if there was someone who could help me understand through sign language.

I am excited to be with Salesforce, working with the deaf people in this awesome DEAForce community, and looking forward to see where our path will head into. Thank you, @Mario Essig!

As I start my journey to become a Salesforce Administrator (just started a week ago and love the platform) I am also looking at my work options once I get the certification. Other than Glassdoor I do not know of good resources to spot if an employer is good to deaf/HoH employees. What resources do you use to spot best employers for you?

Hi! I have been working as a Salesforce Administrator for over 3 years and I also have been providing Salesforce consulting services for a little over a year. Based on my experience as a Deaf individual, the employers are great with me. I also have been hearing similar stories with other Deaf SFDC Administrators as well. If you aspire to become a SFDC Admin, aim for it! The need is still there!
