Distributed Marketing

Distributed Marketing is the Salesforce Marketing Cloud solution for distributed organizations, allowing central marketing to easily provide marketing cloud content to non-marketers (distributed marketers) almost anywhere on the Customer Success Platform. Join the conversation here to stay up to date on Distributed Marketing, how Salesforce can help you, and everything in between. Use this group to review resources, ask questions, help each other, and share experiences. This channel is monitored by the Distributed Marketing product team.

We gave them the rich text content area, but they want the content areas they see in their email to be editable. Is this something that enabling content collaboration features in the org would fix? We have seen it mentioned in the documentation, but have found no documentation on content collaboration specifically. Thanks in advance for any help!

We've followed the documentation steps we were provided and are wondering what the expected experience is in Sales Cloud. Here's a blip on the feature. https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?language=en_US&id=sf.mc_rn_2023_summer_dm_customize_subject_lines.htm&type=5              Here are the steps we were provided.                                                                                                                    1. In Content Builder, drag and drop a Distributed Multivariate block onto the canvas.

 2. Enter a selection name. (Something like "Custom Subject Line" will work in this instance)

 3. Enter a guidance message, if applicable.

 4. Enter the variable name. Variable names can be 50 alphanumeric characters with no spaces or special characters.

 5. Provide at least two options for the business user. Options can contain a maximum of 80 characters.

 6. Enable the "Allow user to provide free text" option

 7. Click Done Editing.

You will note that there is a new Content Block labeled Distributed Content Variations Subject Line that we assumed was the correct block to choose.

If anyone has insight I'd love to here your experience.

Hi Team-- per the attached screenshot, I noticed an option under "Reporting" within the Distributed Marketing CRM tab that states:

"Enabling engagement tracking will extend IERs to include a link to DM Activity Logs. Please refer to Distributed Marketing documentation to fully configure engagement tracking."

This would be an extremely beneficial item for my org, so I was wondering if this is new or if anybody is currently using this option.  I haven't been able to locate any documentation through the typical channels, so it's possible I'm misunderstanding.

Thanks for any guidance you may have!

    @Jason Bruns @Jason Edmondson Mine got fixed about 10-12 days ago too. I'm occasionally having to do the "request tracking immediately" workaround which is not going to work long term but at least I'm able to see records. I've picked up a LOT of different learnings since then. It's so much to type but if you want to set up a call I can show you what I'm seeing? Email me at jaclyn.mennie@mediamonks.com. Examples are 1) a DM activity record is created the moment someone enters the journey for ALL email activities in the journey - Let's say you have 3 total email activities in the journey, even if you have a decision split after email 1 that determines whether you get email 2a or 2b, all 3 DM activity records will get created.

    2) the "IsScheduled" field on the DM activity record does not represent whether the email is going to send on the future date, it represents the DM tool if the DM user decided to schedule the email or not.

    3) there are some example reports in the "Distributed Marketing Adoption" reports folder in salesforce that run off the DM activity log object but you'll need to get really creative with filters to make the counts look right

Hi there I am trying to set up a DM SMS send but finding it quite challenging especially with the documentation available for the SMS part:

1. I cant seem to see my journey in Quick Send even though i followed the instructions here (any watchouts greatly welcomed) I have added it in the quick send admin section too.

2. How do you manage adding contacts to a keyword automatically on creation in the CRM? I cant choose to opt them in to the Keyword for quick send but they need to be opted in to recieve a message? (see attached) https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mc_dm_setup_sms_sends.htm&type=5

Thank you!

Hi,

I have create custom component in which giving option to user to select topics. After topic selection , fetching all the quick send journey which are belongs to that selected topic using topicAssignment object. Once user selected quick send journey ,then creating records of mcdm_15__MarketingCloudLinkedJourney__c, In which I am populating field like below:

 objmcdm.mcdm_15__JourneyId__c=QuickSendJourney.Id;

 objmcdm.mcdm_15__ObjectId__c = CampaignId;

  objmcdm.mcdm_15__LinkedBusinessUnit__c =QuickSendJourney.mcdm_15__LinkedBusinessUnit__c

  objmcdm.mcdm_15__JourneyName__c = objQuickSendJourney.mcdm_15__JourneyName__c;

 objmcdm.mcdm_15__PersonalizationDeId__c =objQuickSendJourney.mcdm_15__PersonalizationDeId__c;

Record is getting created but when I am doing refresh on campaign getting internal error.

Am I missing anything? Or Do i have to create any other object record also.

Getting Internal Error on Campaign Message component

We use a custom template in Marketing Cloud with defined formatting and when we pull in a DM content block, it doesn't match our template layout. The DM content block formatting options are extremely limited. We want to be able to change the font type, color, size and the content block background color and width. The DM Content Block HTML editor says DO NOT TOUCH and our developer said when he tried to edit this, it turned into a static block. How can we edit the Distributed content blocks to align with our template format?

    > @Michael Northorp So you shouldn't have to touch the block itself but apply the styles outside of the block, and the blocks will respect the styling defined.

    Applying styles outside of the block doesn't work in Outlook, for example.  Plus the Rich Text block uses Lato as the font-family.  There's just no good way that I've found to override that so it works in Outlook.

What are the options for unique ID. Someone told me that Contact ID was the only option. Is that true?

    That is the global defaults settings for campaign DM sends. Only DM Admins will be able to see it, and the global defaults when set will show for all users, unless they have their own personal defaults.

    It looks like you might be on an earlier version as well, we recently patched that UI to make it look less like an "alert" and more of a notice. You can upgrade to the latest package at the link on this page.

Our org was just upgraded to Summer '24 and based on the Release Notes, I'm only seeing one enhancement for Distributed Marketing -- "Prevent Email Sends with Empty Fields in Distributed Marketing".

Has anyone turned this feature on?  I'm not seeing any options within the Distributed Marketing Administration tab, and the documentation linked in the Release Notes is literally one sentence.

    Thanks @Piyusha Pilania.  I was hoping this was a quick one that didn't require a Case, but I ultimately reached out to Salesforce and they point me to the "Compliance & Approvals" section of the DM Administration and that's where I found the new setting.  Screen shot attached if anybody is curious.  Thanks!

    We ran into that exact problem when trying to set up a monthly newsletter. We decided to use Bulk Quick Send from List View. Depending on the size of your audience (bulk quick send can send up to 25,000 emails at one time), this could be a good workaround.
