Today’s blog features MVP and Salesforce instructor @Don Robins, who shares his thoughts on superbadges. More specifically, the Data Integration Superbadge and how it plays into the Architect journey and the new Platform Developer II certification path.

Don doesn’t share his secrets on how to complete the superbadge, but he does explain what is involved, the level of complexity, and what you will be expected to know in order to earn it for yourself.

As always, thanks for sharing your wisdom Don!!

*** Registration for TrailheaDX 2018 is LIVE! ***

Who's ready for a learning adventure? We know you were bummed to hear we cancelled Destination Success, but hopefully you're wiggling with excitement now that we have an Ultimate Pass available at TrailheaDX this year.

New this year, we're offering two pass types:

  • Full Conference Pass: Two days of inspiration, fun, and hands-on learning with our engineers, scientists and product leaders from March 28-29 in San Francisco.
  • Ultimate Pass: Customers can join us early for a three-day in-depth learning bootcamp before the conference from March 25-27. Attendees will also get two opportunities to sit for certification exams.

Everyone that registers will also receive two certification vouchers (that means 4 exams for all you Ultimate Pass folks).

At #TDX18 we'llll bring together 8,500+ developers, architects, admins, executives, and Salesforce employees for an immersive, hands-on experience where attendees learn from Salesforce engineers and product experts while connecting, having fun, and giving back with the Trailblazer community.

Check out the different tracks available in the Ultimate Pass here: https://developer.salesforce.com/trailheadx/bootcamp

And as always, let us know if you have questions!

@Tim Plucinski I'd recommend at least registering for the Saturday morning exam so you're not stressed waiting in line to get your authorization code. You can register for the Tuesday exam on site (esp. if the exam you want to take might change based on what you learn during the week or how the Saturday exam goes), otherwise I'd recommend again signing up ahead of time. @Lauren Chan can chime in with any other details about exam registration!

Just logged in to cry a little about the recent DS2018 cancellation e-mail that I got and I've already found out that some other colleagues are bummed about this too.

The experience, contacts and networking that I got during those two consecutive years in DS was totally irreplaceable: it was a full week of "burning our heads" in studying and felt like a truly Salesforce University experience. Plus, for people like me (coming from Argentina - the last country down south), it wouldn't make sense to travel for only 2 days of Trailhead, just because I'd be doubling the time spent on the plane than on the actual training. I imagine the same logic would apply for all the guys coming from Europe and further.

Finally, the communication stated that "One thing stood out loud and clear: there is a desire for more Salesforce learning opportunities", but that's quite the opposite of what it's happening: less learning opportunities are going to be available if you take DS down (it would make sense if you added THDX and not removed DS at the same time...)

Anyway, if this is it; it was a good run. A great shoutout and thanks to @Sophie Westbrook@Tricia Austin and their teams for their awesome organization and to my amazing, down to earth instructors @Andy Anderson, @Andres Perez (ELTORO.it) and @Simon Connock.

Dear DST Alum and Friends,

We've enjoyed bringing Destination Success to the Salesforce community over the last two years. We've loved learning with you and receiving your feedback. One thing stood out loud and clear: there is a desire for more Salesforce learning opportunities. As a result of this feedback we're resetting the plans originally slated for Washington D.C next year, and instead bringing in-depth learning to TrailheaDX which is scheduled for March 28-29, 2018 in San Francisco.

Can't Wait Until March?

Join us before the magic of Dreamforce '17, November 3-5, as we bring three days of in-depth, hands-on, expert-led training, and certification opportunities to San Francisco. Learn more about this training here: https://sfdc.co/bhKuzV

We look forward to seeing you at a learning event, or in a classroom soon, and hope that you continue to Blaze Your Trail at trailhead.salesforce.com

To echo the previous comments, I am so disappointed in this decision. I attended DST17 and it was by far the best Salesforce event I've been to. I've told anyone who will listen what am amazing learning experience this was. I had decided not to attend Dreamforce 2018 so that I could use my budget for DST18. I am hopeful you are able to recreate the same experience at TrailheadDx.

Were there any announcements/updates about Destination Success at Dreamforce?  Just curious if SF has reconsidered their decision to cancel it with all the negative feedback.

***Mark your calendars and sign-up now***

One of the main reasons people come to Dreamforce is to learn (and let's face it, have a little fun too). That's why you need to mark your calendar for Tuesday, November 7th at 4:00 pm, when we'll be hosting the Trailhead Keynote.

bit.ly/TrailheadKeynote

Trailhead is the fun way to learn Salesforce, and during this keynote, we'll be going through the latest Trailhead features that will enhance your learning, and help you reinvent learning at your company. We'll also have some exciting announcements that you won't want to miss!

So mark your calendars, sign-up, and get ready to see all the ways that Trailhead will help transform the way you learn Salesforce.

So, is everyone as bummed as I am that they cancelled Destination Success 2018??!!  I can't believe it!  I loved the forum and the certificaton process.  Now they are directing us to TrailheaDX (only 2 days) and I could not find where you can do testing at TrailheaDX.  What does everyone else think of this?!

That is so disappointing! Due to budgeting constraints I could only attend every other year so went to 2016 and was planning on going to 2018. It was so successful, why would they cancel it? Bummer.

Only true (and long term) Salesforce fans will know what this costume is (besides the obvious butterfly of course). Just wait till we post the team picture later this afternoon.

Share your Halloween pics here. I want to see all the creative, hilarious, scary costumes you've come up with.

I'm working on a "Chatter Spoofer".  Currently, I can use flow to post relevant information to chatter using the standard 'post to chatter' element complete with @ mentions and hashtags even when building my posts dynamically with formulas.  The problem is this is attributed to the currently running user, which causes confusion.

I want the posts to come from a system user (AKA Chatterbot).  When I create the feed items manually using record create or fast create, I can set CreatedById to the system user, but I lose the ability to @ mention and hashtag.

Is there a way to enjoy the benefits of both?  If anyone knows, I bet @Rakesh Gupta does...

Awesome idea on the Hobby Project, and a great challenge trying to get it without Apex... but please understand that declarative customizations are great because it allows you to build quickly, but Apex is no evil ;-)

Building a very complex flow to generate random numbers is great for a hobby, and I am sure you learn a ton! But sometimes Apex is required because it’s just more powerful than clicking ;-)
