Hi I am testing Salesforce Survey option in my Sandbox and having difficulty generating useful reports. I have created a Custom Type report - Primary Object - Survey Question Scores The report is not intuitive - can anyone direct me to documentation. youtube videos etc that concentrate on report generation
Glad the dashboard is working! On the blank export — this is a known pain point with the Export Responses button in the Analyze tab.
A few things to check:
First, look at the Status column in your screenshot — the export only pulls responses with a status of Completed. If any of your 4 responses are still In Progress, they show in the metrics count but are excluded from the export. You may be exporting fewer rows than you expect, or zero if none are fully submitted.
Second, the export does generate all the columns (Survey Version, Invitation Link, Participant, etc.) before it gets to your actual question answers, so the file can look blank if you are only looking at the first few columns. Scroll all the way to the right — your question responses should be in the columns after Status.
If the file is truly empty with only a header row, try this as a workaround: go to Reports, find the Survey report types (Survey Question Response or Survey Individual Response), and build a report from there instead. You get more filtering control and the data is easier to work with than the raw export. The Analyze tab export is convenient but the report builder gives you a more reliable result.
Let me know what you find when you check the Completed vs In Progress status on those 4 responses.
