We have implemented a popup on the login page that displays a guide message.
Now, we would also like to show the same popup with the same guide message on the Tableau Server home page after login.
Is this possible?
Hi @jinwook shin​. I don't believe so. You've reasonably limited in what you can put in that customised message. You can have a hyperlink, so can direct people to a user guide. But not as a pop up.
I guess anything is possible if you're willing to dig deep enough into the files behind Tableau Server, but you'd be risking ending up with an unsupported installation (so if you do try finding and editing files *definitely* ensure you have a backup!). How did you achieve a pop up on the login page?
I do wonder whether a link from the welcome/home page is a better user experience anyway. If you've already given them a pop up on the login page, are they going to get frustrated with a pop up on the welcome page? Particularly if it's every time! The built in functionality does have the advantage of being less obtrusive - it's there for people who want help, but doesn't get in the way for those that don't.
One last thought is that there are some good community blogs on providing help on individual dashboards, so you could take that route ... provide the guidance once people get to a dashboard.
