Hello Tableau Community,

I’m working on a dashboard that includes a map visual. The map displays data based on a filter selection — for example, when a user selects a specific area, it shows car dealer locations for that region.

The issue I’m facing is performance-related:

  • When a densely populated area like New York City or Chicago is selected (which has many dealer locations), the dashboard takes noticeably longer to load and render the map.
  • In contrast, when a less populated area is selected, the map loads much faster.

I’m looking for suggestions on how to optimize the dashboard so that it performs efficiently even when plotting large volumes of data, such as in NYC or Chicago. Are there best practices or techniques in Tableau to handle this kind of performance challenge?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I am not sure if I can help without looking at the workbook and understanding your data model. Also, you may want to see how you can reduce your data volume.
