I have a Users requirement where user want to adjust column width in Tableau server.
I tried to find the solution for the question, I found that it is possible by editing the dashboard but I don't want user to edit the dashboard, update the width, and save it again.
They are new to Tableau and could break everything up. I didn't find any other way around answer.
Please, let me know if you have some thoughts on this.
I'm pretty sure this function is not in Tableau natively. It might be in the Supertables extension. It's paid but I think they have a limited free version.
What I would recommend, however, is to question your users on why they need this. Are they aware that they can hover over a column to see the full name if they cannot read it? If the column is structurally not wide enough, can you make it wider? If that causes spacing issues, can you delete any fields from the table or is a scrollbar acceptable?
