We are connecting to SAP HANA from Tableau desktop.
Firewall rules are in place between Tableau and SAP HANA
And we've recently installed SSL on the HANA DB.
I can create a connection in Tableau Desktop to HANA DB but when i tick SSL. the connection fails and gives and Error.
Is there any other config necessary to use SSL connection to SAP HANA DB?

Thank you for your in-depth answer.
Firstly SSL is installed but after doing some investigation today, i realise that i need to make sure that they applied it to the JDBC HANA client and not just the web client.
However can i ask for some clarity on some points above.
- When i tick the SSL option when creating the connection, no other SSL options appear. There is only the tick box. Where are you referring to for the SSL options to select the SSL Mode and SSL Cert Validation options. I cannot see those.
- Also, when you say to check if the SSL port is open, should i expect the DB port to change after SSL is installed ? a Web port would change for SSL but i would have thought the DB port would stay the same.
