So, I have an idea to create a Waffle chart that shows account performance. It would be color-coded based on if they are performing better, neutral, or worse than their historical performance.
The idea would be a user could click on the account and click to a sheet with more granular information on that account. I know how to link to another sheet, but is there a way to filter the linked sheet based on the click of the user? As in, account abc is performing better than expected. The user clicks the link to another sheet and it dynamically filters down to granular information on that account.
Hopefully that makes sense.

What you described is the basic functionality of a filter action: open another dashboard/worksheet, and filter it using a selected field.
