My student license for Tableau Desktop recently expired, and it seems like the only option for student access is now through Tableau Public. However, when I try to open the workbooks that I was working on in Tableau Desktop, I get an error that Tableau Public must use extracts (see below).

When I close out of this message to attempt to create an extract, all of the visualizations that I previously made using Tableau Desktop disappear (Tableau Public creates a new workbook). How can I access the visualizations that I have previously created? Many hours of work went into those workbooks that I would prefer not to lose. How to access Tableau Desktop workbooks through Tableau Public?

If I understand, your student license has already expired? - if so you will need a little help from a friend - I would check first with the Professor and try to get an extension - if not I would look to a friend - You need to open each file - extract the data and publish it to your Tableau Public account from there
