Hi Tableau Community,

I am having an issue with joining 2 xls datasets: transactions and invoices. The datasets have a common join field - BankName. Since they have a many to many relationship, I created a bridge table called Banks.

The Relationship between the tables is working properly with the exception of 3 missing BankNames (20+ functioning properly, 3 missing). The Bank Names are spelled exactly the same and have the same data type in each xls.

I would upload my file but it has confidential data.

Any ideas to troubleshoot this? In the near future this will be connected to SQL and there will be a Bank ID to facilitate the join, so just looking for a short-term solution in Tableau or Tableau Prep not involving creating IDs.

Thanks!!

Try using TRIM with the bank names to remove the possibility of a leading/trailing space.
