I have a Tableau dashboard that has a hyperlink action to a MS Access form for input. I changed the format to file://server/filefolder/inputdata.accdb, which works fine in my twb file. When I publish it, the link opens a web browser (default firefox) and asks me to download the file. I want to open the database directly. Or at least open a file location in file explorer instead of a web url.
This is a calendar. The intent is that the user can view the Tableau calendar then link direct to the input forms or database to make changes or create a new calendar event.
This may be a browser issue instead of Tableau, but I'm stuck either way. Any help would be welcomed.
I don't think you're going to be able to get this to work, unfortunately. I don't think Tableau will hyperlink to anything that is not a true web page.
