I am trying to generate a map that would overlay a spatial file with lines or polygons and a serie of POIs from an excel file. Both layers would have joins with auxiliary files for classification/coding.

I can achieve both maps separately (aka it works well individually) but could not find a way to have both layers presented in a single map. Is that possible?

For ilustration: I have a spatial file with roads in a certain city and a separate list of schools presented as points in an excel file with respective GPS point. I would like to generate a map that shows schools and roads together.

Thanks for any leads.

If you're using Tableau 2021.4, this sounds like a perfect use for multi data source layering. You should be able to add the schools and roads from separate data sources on different layers on the same map by just dragging the geometry onto the map.

There is a great tutorial on multi data source layers by @Marc Reid here: https://datavis.blog/2021/12/30/map-layers-in-tableau-2021-4/
