Good Morning,

 

I am trying to make a heat map of how many minutes of surgical cases happen at each our for each day. I'm new to Tableau and familiar with excel, so I ended up doing the calculations there.

 

Here is an example of the data I am playing with (attached).

 

How would I Create a Heat Map by Hour per Day?

 

I'm trying to create something like this heat map. The sum of the minutes by hour per day:

I'm sure there is a way to get all the minutes just with a calc in Tableau (which, if anybody wanted to share, that would be great!), but, is there a way with the data above to make the heat map in tableau?

    Hi David,

    Does the below meet what you're trying to do? Workbook attached as 10.4 version, as I wasn't sure what versioning you are on.  Best, Don

     

    First, the minutes per hour need to be pivoted:

    Then rename the Pivot Field Names and Values to something more reflective of what's in the data:

    Then set the pills as shown below and I used the 'Show Me' for charting in the upper right-hand corner of the view:

    To answer the second part of the question, just turn on Row and Column Totals:
