Hi all,

I'm running into some trouble with filters. I have a spatial dataset of the United Kingdom divided into catchments. Each catchment has a percentage attached to it which I'm using to drive some pie charts. The first pie chart is to show the total percentage coverage of the UK, in this case it's 1.35%. The second pie chart I would like to change based on what catchment is selected or what group of catchments are selected. But I'm having difficulty with this. I'm setting up some action filters but nothing is happening so both pie charts are the same. Also, on the dashboard, I would like the second pie chart to remain hidden until a catchment on the map is selected. I'm sure following the same steps as I have previously to create something similar, but to no avail.

Attached is a packaged workbook and I've attached some examples of a previous dashboard I made of which I'm attempting to recreate the actions and behaviour. I would really appreciate a fresh pair of eyes to tell me what I'm doing wrong! If I haven't explained myself properly, please let me know.

Many thanks,

Matthew

Using Tableau Desktop 2019.2.0

Here are the images of my previous attempt at this. I've had to hide some of the titles and details so the bosses would allow me to post them.

So here is what the dashboard looks like on first view:

Selection/ Action Filter Help

It is displaying a single pie chart showing total coverage for the region and a bar chart which shows change over time (this graph is not needed in my new workbook as it's a single point in time).

Here's the dashboard when selecting a single item on the map:

The second pie chart displays detailing the coverage of the selected map item and the graph changes as well.

Here's what happens when selecting a group of items on the map:

Once again the second pie chart and graph recalculate for the selection.

    Hi Matthew,

You need to add in a field to the map - such as ID - to use as a reference for the filter:

Put both pie charts in the asme layout container, then create your dashboard action:
