Dear Community,

I would like to change the spacing of a bar chart, accordingly such that there is a gap between reference lines (defined per cell).

For that look at the following graph:

Spacing of bar charts relating to reference lines // cell spacing

As you can see, if the graphs are very close to each other and the reference lines might be touching or building one line if they are on the same level (data is subject to change..).

The option using the "size" function does not work in this case, since it just changes the size of the bars, but not the padding of the reference line/overall cell.

What I am searching for is basically a padding function for given cells. Is this somehow possible?

What I found is this:

The easiest way to add some space between the cells is to do as follows:

  • Right click in the blank space of the view and select Format
  • In the format pane on the left of your screen, navigate to the Format Borders icon (the one that looks like a little window)
  • In the bottom of the pane, under Column Divider, change the pane to the thickest line and choose the white color.
  • Change the slider of Level all the way to the right.

This works to some extend, but the thickest line is still very small compared to the overall size of the graphic.. Furthermore, sadly I can not give you the underlying data since it is confidential..

Cheers!

    Manuel,

Not terribly clean, but you can take off the line of the Reference Line and just show the label

which you can set to something like -------<Value>-------  or _____<Value>_____

I wasn't clear on how you were synchronizing, but just wanted to toss out that

synchronization can sometimes also be done by a separate hidden reference line.

Please see workbook v10.5 attached in the Forum Thread.
