I have a workbook which was originally pulling data from Google Sheets. I recently tried out Tableau Online to see if it would suit my needs, but for a couple reasons, I won't be able to use it. It seems that using Tableau Online changed my data source from Google Sheets to Tableau Online, but I would like to go back to just working off Google Sheets directly.

I tried adding the original Google Sheets file as a new source, and then using the "replace data source" feature. But that breaks a number of my calculated fields despite them having been created when Google Sheets was the only data source.

The other part that confuses me is when I log in to Tableau Online, I see that it's connected to Google Sheets.

Change Data Source From Tableau Online

I'm just trying to cut out Tableau Online at this point and connect straight to Google Sheets again.

    Hello Mine Safety,

When replacing the data source sometimes references can have difficulties being replaced in the view. I would review the section about 'Replace Field References' in the following product help.

Additionally, a potential troubleshooting step would be to make a local copy of the data source before attempting the replacement.

    1. Open Tableau Desktop

    2. Connect to the data source in question on Tableau Online

    3. Right *click* > Create Local Copy

    4. Save to the local computer

    5. The icon for the data source should have converted from a Tableau Sparkle (series of plus signs in small square) to the standard database symbol(cylinder).

    Cheers,

    Byrne, Patrick
