I am using v8.1 publishing reports to server.  I have a bar graph on which users can select several people to compare results.  The issue is that the first two selected staff appear as separate colours (blue and orange) but everyone added after is added as varying shades of the second colour (orange) instead of a new colour

I have seen Patrick's suggestion here

but this won't work for me as I have almost 400 names and these will change from month to month so I can't preset them.  Does anyone know how I can force Tableau to select a new colour when additional names are added from the dimension?

Thanks

Ruth

Is there more than a single pill on the color shelf?

Patrick's suggestion may not seem scalable in this case but 400 different colors won't give anything visually distinguishable or meaningful so it probably makes sense to break users into coarser categories and use those categories on color.
