We have reports organized by project with many workbooks in each project. Is it possible to configure one view to open automatically when a user clicks on the project folder so users never have to see all the workbooks and go directly to the the summary view for the project?

Correct. If you're an administrator there's an option to set a page as the default for all users:
I tried to look in the API methods and see if there's an option to set the default for a specific user, but I couldn't find anything.
