I have a sales dashboard on Tableau server with two tabs. I want users to be able to click on a product from Tab 1 and open Tab 2 with that product pre-selected. I built a URL action that passes the product name because the second tab has worksheets with multiple data sources (linked through the product name) and dashboard filter actions were not allowing me to filter across data sources.
The URL action works initially and the product detail tab loads successfully with worksheets for both datasources showing the selected product. However, if a user then selects a new product from the quick filter on this tab (the quick filter affects all worksheets on the dashboard) then all of the worksheets from secondary data sources go blank. The worksheet from the primary data source updates correctly.
Does anyone know what is happening here? Are there any good solutions / workarounds?
